La agenda política incluye la votación de investidura del nuevo Presidente del Gobierno, tras la dimisión de Adolfo\nSuárez, sin que se espere ninguna sorpresa. Pero a las 6:23 de la tarde, los acontecimientos tomarán un rumbo inesperado.\nCuando Don Juan Carlos está a punto de dejar su despacho para jugar un partido de squash con unos amigos, el teniente coronel\nTejero irrumpe en el Congreso y secuestra a los diputados y al Gobierno en pleno, a la espera de la llegada de una autoridad\nmilitar que no se nombra. En Palacio, como en el resto de España, los primeros momentos son de confusión. Nadie sabe qué ha\npasado: solamente que ha habido gritos, y ráfagas de metralleta…. lo poco que se ha oído por la radio, que retransmitía en directo\nla votación. Pero pronto es evidente que se trata de un intento de golpe de Estado...\nDurante las horas siguientes, el Rey tendrá que desplegar toda su habilidad para mostrar a los militares indecisos que él\nno respalda el golpe.
