Ben Alí huyó de Túnez dejando tras de sí acusaciones de conspiración, abuso de poder, homicidio voluntario, tráfico de drogas. Hasta 66 años de cárcel pide el tribunal militar que le juzga, en rebeldía, porque el expresidente ve pasar los cargos desde Arabia Saudi, que se niega a extraditarle. El segundo en caer fue Hosni Mubarak, que gobernó Egipto con mano de hierro. Un tribunal le juzga en El Cairo por la muerte de 846 manifestantes. El fiscal pide para él la pena de muerte. Aunque está por ver si será en La Haya o en Trípoli, como piden las nuevas autoridades libias.

EL CAIRO (Reuters) - El exjefe del Ejército Abdel Fattá al Sisi logró una aplastante victoria en las elecciones presidenciales de Egipto de la semana pasada, con un 96,91 por ciento de los votos, según confirmó el martes la comisión electoral.
El 47 por ciento de los 54 millones de votantes en Egipto acudieron a las urnas, informó la comisión, menos de 40 millones de votos, o el 80 por ciento del electorado, al que Sisi había instado a concurrir a votar.
Sisi obtuvo un amplio apoyo de los egipcios tras derrocar el año pasado al presidente Mohamed Mursi, de los Hermanos Musulmanes, tras multitudinarias protestas contra su Gobierno.
Ahora se enfrenta una serie de retos en un país donde las manifestaciones en la calle han ayudado a derrocar a dos líderes en tres años.
Una participación menor a la esperada ha generado dudas sobre la capacidad de Sisi de conservar su popularidad mientras intenta reducir la pobreza, revivir una alicaída economía y evitar más crisis políticas.
