Sus objetivos en 1976 eran la derogación de la Ley de Peligrosidad Social y la Ley del Escándalo Público, la amnistía, la supresión de los artículos del código penal que iban encarados directamente al colectivo homosexual y la legalización de aquellas asociaciones que, según la legislación franquista, eran contrarias a las buenas costumbres. El FAGC aglutinaba todo el movimiento homosexual en Cataluña; hoy en día sigue existiendo, si bien comparte protagonismo con otros colectivos menos radicales. La Ley de Peligrosidad Social y Rehabilitación Social, que había entrado en vigencia en 1970 y que condenaba por lo penal a homosexuales, vagabundos y prostitutas, se derogó finalmente en 1978.
